Video Compressor

Make a video smaller entirely in the browser. Pick how hard to compress and see the before and after size. Great for email limits and messaging. Your video never leaves your device.

Overview

What this tool does

Make a video smaller without uploading it anywhere. The Video Compressor runs entirely in your browser: load a video, choose how hard to compress, and download a lighter MP4 that is easy to email, message, or post. It re-encodes with H.264 at a quality target, and the Smallest and Balanced levels also cap the resolution so big phone videos shrink a lot. You can see the before and after size and how much you saved. Because it all happens on your device, your video never leaves your computer, there is no watermark, no signup, and no daily limit.

How to

Use it in 3 steps

  1. Upload a video. It stays on your device: nothing is sent to a server.
  2. Choose a level: Smallest for the biggest size drop, Balanced for a good mix, or High quality for a gentle shrink.
  3. Click Compress video. The first run loads the engine once, then it processes locally with a progress bar.
  4. Check the before and after size, then download the compressed MP4. No watermark.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. Compression runs in your browser with WebAssembly, so the file never leaves your device. That is what makes it private and free.

How much smaller will my video get?

It depends on the source. Large, high-bitrate phone or screen recordings often drop by half or more on the Smallest level. A video that is already compressed may not shrink much.

Why does it take a while?

Compressing re-encodes the whole video on your device. Short clips are quick; long or high-resolution videos take longer because there is no server doing the work.

Is there a watermark or a size limit?

No watermark. Videos up to 500MB are supported.
